School Phobia and Its Impact

Phobia of any kind can be very distressing to the person who experiences it. It is quite easy for people who don’t have a particular phobia to make fun of and tease the person has it. You may only know the emotional distress and mental torture associated with it when you yourself experience the thing. In fact, the only way to get rid of the phobia is to have the will power to get over it, or identifying the reason.
One of the common phobias being seen among the young children of today is the school phobia. This is a very important and fatal culture coming up in the society. The children find it quite distressing and torturing going to school. No matter how much you assure them, how much you make them understand it is nothing or how simple it is, they simply refuse to go to school.
There are many factors which can cause school phobia in a child. One of the reasons may be that he does not want to experience the tensions or anxieties associated with school life. Such a child would have more issues than just school phobia when you dig deeper into his mind and check for yourself what is happening.
Another factor which is commonly seen is the bullying by other children. This is a common trend and most children find it distressing to be bullied by other children of the same or older age. Bullying is something which humiliates the person experiencing it, leading to reluctance in going to the place where he is likely to be receiving it.
School phobia should be dealt with as early as possible. Identify the underlying reason and try to help the child overcome it. This would help to a certain limit, the rest is in the hands of the child to get over his phobia.
